Introduction to Crocheting Rose Flower with Stalk
In this post, we will first be starting off with the relevant supplies and techniques you would need to crochet this rose.
As this is a beginner friendly pattern, there are basic crochet stitches as well as taller crochet stitches. Here to make the petals itself, we will be using 1 colour and a continuous stitch, while the stalk will be in another colour.

Terminology for Crocheting Rose Flower with Stalk
Ch = chain
Dtr = double treble crochet
St = stitch (refers to number of stitches in one round)
2sc1 = single crochet increase (meaning 2 single crochet in same stitch)
Sc2tog1 = single crochet decrease (referring to invisible decrease)
Materials and Tools for Crocheting Rose Flower
3.5mm Furls Streamline Blush crochet hook
Scheepjes Catona or any equivalent fingering or sport weight yarn
Version 1 - Maroon, Dark Green (25gm each)
Version 2 - Bright Red, Turquoise Green (25gm each)
Scissors

Now that you have gathered your supplies and had a look at the basic terminology to reading the following pattern, let us first get started!
Yarn
Scheepjes Catona or any equivalent fingering or sport weight yarn
Crochet hook
2.5-3.0mm Clover crochet hook
Stuffing
Use leftover yarn or polyester fibrefill
Darning Needles
Safety Eyes
4mm glass eyes or safety eyes
Stitch Markers
Plastic stitch markers or metal stitch markers
Crochet Rose Flower Pattern
Crochet Rose Petals
Use red yarn to make a rose.
Row 1: Ch11
Row 2: Work into 2nd ch from hook, (sc1, 2sc1) x 5, ch1 and turn - 15st
Row 3: 2sc15, ch1 and turn - 30st
Row 4:
[(2sc-3hdc-2sc), sl st 1] x 3,
[(ch1, 2hdc-3dc-2hdc, ch1), sl st 1] x 3,
[(ch2, 2dc-3tr-2dc, ch2, sl st in same st), sl st 1] x 9, then end off - 105st
Curl up the long continuous piece in a spiral.
Then use red yarn, thread through centre to the top and then back down again.
Crochet Rose Stalk
Use green yarn to make the whole rose stalk.
Round 1: Magic ring sc4 - 4st
Round 2: Sc4 - 4st
Rounds 3-10 (8 rounds): Repeat Round 2 - 4st
Round 11: Sc1, [(sc1, hdc1, dc1, tr1, dtr1) all in same FLO, (ch2, sl st 1 down ch), ch5, sl st 1 onto original 1st FLO st], sc2 - 4st
Round 12: Sc1, sc1 BLO, sc2 - 4st
Round 13: Sc4 - 4st
Round 14: Sc1, [(sc1, hdc1, dc1, tr1, dtr1) all in same FLO, (ch2, sl st 1 down ch), ch5, sl st 1 onto original 1st FLO st], sc2 - 4st
Round 15: Sc1, sc1 BLO, sc2 - 4st
Round 16: Sc4 - 4st
Rounds 17-18: Repeat Round 16 - 4st
Round 19: 2sc4 - 8st
Round 20: {Sc1, [(sc1, hdc1, dc1, tr1, dtr1) all in same st, (ch2, sl st 1 down ch), ch5, sl st 1 onto original 1st st]} x 4, then end off - 8st
Attach this last round to the back of the rose flower above and sew it down.
