Release of my Ice Cream Babies Set!

Guys if you have been following my recent posts, then you know I recently had a free pattern release on the Hook Nook blog! This time, it’s my full PDF release! It consists of 22 pages of patterns and 50+ images of Polly in a swimsuit, Buster the ice-cream boy and their ice cream truck! To see the behind the scenes as well as a 360 degree view, check out this post.

Here are 5 reasons to check out why this mini ebook is worth getting your hands on:

1) Beautiful formatting

This is something new I’ve decided I’m going to try to come up with for my new interactive modular sets! They are available for download for printing as an mini book, or simply to bring along with you on your phone or laptop as an ebook!

Yeah so for my older sets, like this little Looney Tunes guy here, that my was old formatting for my patterns. It’s still informative and has all the crucial elements to a good pattern but it was pretty basic. So I am trying to mix things up and see if i can upgrade my patterns just for you guys!

2) Total 22 pages worth of patterns, 50+ pictures

I tried squeezing in more photos on the Hook Nook blog but there were just too many things to show, especially for the truck, I did take a lot of photos so it would be easier to understand. For the individual parts, for the assembly and even the detailing.

3) Checkboxes

This was something I thought to add in because it really does help during the progress of the pattern while crocheting. And while I was trying this it, it leads me to my next point which is…

4) Editable PDF with links

Oh yeah, it was worth testing out right! I made the PDF editable! Which means you can tick the checkboxes as you go along the pattern! I thought it would be super useful, at least it was for me! So, there are some caveats with this, because I tried it out on different mediums.

It works well on adobe acrobat reader on windows, preview on mac, also on chrome for both types of devices. But, it does not work on an iPhone, read on though cos I figured out another way to mark out when you last left off!

For laptop or desktop

It’s editable on adobe acrobat as you can see!

Does pretty good on chrome too, for both windows and mac.

And this is the preview program on the Mac, which turns out editable as well!

For iphone
Like I mentioned, it does not work on the iphone. This was a little trick that I personally use to mark up my ebook downloads. I download the PDF into the Book App (available on all iPhones), open it up there.

Step 1) Click the little pencil at the top to do mark up (just like in Photos).

Step 2) Select the marker at the bottom and choose the thickness you want.

Step 3) Pinch into the pattern details and use the marker to manually tick the checkboxes!

Easy peasy right? I tried using the checkboxes on the Book App, it does not work :(. But I figured this is a pretty good alternative right?

5) Exclusive Pocket Yarnlings design!

Last but definitely not least, this is one of my first few ‘self-concocted’ designs. This is a really big milestone for me creatively speaking. It’s one thing to come up with a crochet pattern but to come up with a whole idea for the design was totally not easy!

I was inspired by a Spring - Summer theme, though to be honest, it IS summer all year round here in Singapore. I have these whole set of ideas to make some modular designs which are interactive for toddlers and they can house the little pieces neatly together once they are done with playing them, cos we mothers all know the clutter right?
