Free Classic Loki Amigurumi Pattern!
Anyone else super excited on watching the Loki series? He’s got to be one of my favourite Avengers characters and for that, decided to just drop this free Classic Loki pattern for all you fangirls! Something easier would be like my quick Cap America earrings here!
This Classic Loki was one of my earliest patterns - it was also the first time I was attempting a basic crochet cord for his horns (see more about it later). For his scepter, I also used a little bit of blue yarn, though nowadays, I tend to use rhinestones instead!
Terminology
Ch = chain
Sc = single crochet (2sc1 means 2 single crochet in same ch)
Sl st = slip stitch
St = stitch (refers to number of stitches in one round)
Sc2tog1 = single crochet decrease
Surface sc = single crochet directly onto surface
Bobble stitch = 4 double crochet bobble
Materials and Tools
2.0mm Clover crochet hook
Orion Top Deluxe Yarn, Crown Yarn (or any equivalent acrylic yarn) - black, beige, green, yellow, grey, light blue
Darning needle
Stitch markers
Filling – use leftover yarn or polyester fiberfill
Scissors
4mm glass eyes or safety eyes
Craft wire
Glue
Blue rhinestone
Head
Round 1: Magic ring 10 (black) – 10st
Round 2: 2sc10 (black) – 20st
Round 3: Sc20 (black) – 20st
Round 4: (Sc1, 2sc1) x 10 (black) – 30st
Round 5: Sc12 (black), sc12 (beige), sc6 (black) – 30st
Round 6: (Sc1, sc2tog1) x 4 (black), (sc1, sc2tog1) x 4 (beige), (sc1, sc2tog1) x 2 (black) – 20st
Round 7: Sc8 (black), sc8 (beige), sc4 (black) – 20st
Round 8: Sc2tog4 (black), sc2tog4 (beige), sc2tog2 (black) – 10st
Round 9: Sc2tog5 (beige) – 5st
Body (continue from head)
Round 10: 2sc5 (black) – 10st
Round 11: 2sc10 (black) – 20st
Round 12: Sc10 (black), sc1 (yellow), 12th arm, sc5 (black), sc1 (yellow), 19th arm, sc1 (black) – 20st
Arms (at 12th and 19th position): 4dc bobble stitch, top half beige, bottom half yellow
(Bobble stitch for arms = top half beige, bottom half yellow
From the 11th single crochet in Round 12, you will have 1 yellow loop on hook
Yarn over beige, insert hook, yarn over beige again, draw beige yarn through –> you will have 2 beige loops and 1 yellow loop on hook
Then draw yellow yarn through 2 beige loops on hook –> you will have 2 yellow loops on hook
Repeat process: yo beige, insert hook, yo beige and draw beige yarn through –> you will have 2 beige loops and 2 yellow loops on hook
Then draw yellow yarn through 2 beige loops on hook –> you will have 3 yellow loops on hook
Repeat again: yo beige, insert hook, yo beige and draw beige yarn through –> you will have 2 beige loops and 3 yellow loops on hook
Then draw yellow yarn through 2 beige loops on hook –> you will have 4 yellow loops on hook
Repeat last time: yo beige, insert hook, yo beige and draw beige yarn through –> you will have 2 beige loops and 4 yellow loops on hook
Then draw yellow yarn through 2 beige loops on hook –> you will have 5 yellow loops on hook
Then pull through black yarn through all 5 yellow loops on hook and sc1 in next main stitch.
Body – continued
Round 13: Sc20 (black) – 20st
Round 14: Repeat round 13 – 20st
Round 15: Sc13 (black), 14th leg, sc4 (black), 19th leg, sc1 (black) – 20st
Legs (at 14th and 19th position): 4dc bobble stitch, both top and bottom black
Follow same method as above for the bobble stitch for arms, except this time it’s a regular 4dc bobble stitch with one colour.
Round 16: Magic ring 10 then 2sc10, to join up to round 15 (all black) – 20st
Hair – black
Use black yarn to string onto hair directly, it should extend down to the top part of body. (No wig cap involved)
Helmet – yellow
Round 1: Magic ring 5 – 5st
Round 2: 2sc5 – 10st
Round 3: Sc10 – 10st
Round 4: 2sc10 – 20st
Round 5: Sc20 – 20st
Round 6: (Sc1, 2sc1) x 10 – 30st
Round 7: Sc20 backwards – 20st (count in rows now, not rounds)
Round 8: Sc20 forwards – 20st
Round 9: Sc20 backwards – 20st
Round 10: Sc20 forward, ch4, turn – 24st
Round 11: Sc23 backwards, ch4, turn – 27st
Round 12: Sc3, sl st to previous row – 3st
Horns on helmet - yellow
Insert craft wire to make them bendable
Attach them on the 2nd last row of the helmet, roughly in line with the sides of the horizontal front edge of helmet.
Coat lapels x 2 – green
Basic crochet cord (3 layers)
Alternatively can do the following:
Round 1: Ch2 then sc3 – 3st
Round 2: Sc3 – 3st
Round 3: Repeat round 2 – 3st
Chest piece – yellow
Basic crochet cord (3 layers) – ch5 – repeat basic crochet cord (3 layers)
Alternatively can do the following:
(Ch2 and sc3, sc3, sc3) – ch5 – (ch2 and sc3, sc3, sc3)
The ch5 in the middle should be dangling down in a ‘U’-shape
Cape – green
Round 1: Ch12 – 12st
Round 2: Sc11, ch1 and turn – 11st
Round 3-5: Repeat round 2 – 11st
Place over back and connect at front of body
Scepter
Blade – grey
Basic crochet cord (5 layers)
Insert craft wire inside to make it bendable into a ‘C’-shape
Staff – yellow
Use 6-8cm craft wire and bend it into half.
Wrap yellow yarn around it and attach the ‘C’-shape grey basic crochet cord onto top and wrap round it and secure down
Small blue stone
Use a very short light blue yarn and glue into a ball
Alternatively, can use blue rhinestone instead
Glue it down onto blade/ staff junction
Assembly
Head components
Sew on black hair as mentioned above. (No wig cap in this case.)
Attach helmet + horns unit onto top of head and sew down, optional. (I personally prefer headgear non-detachable so I don’t lose them.)
Insert 2 glass eyes at 1st row of the beige face.
Body components
Attach chest piece just below the neck, horizontally across top 1/3 of body.
Add both coat lapels below the chest piece, within the 2 bobble arms.
Sew on the scepter onto his right bobble arm (see individual parts and attachment above).
Place cape over back and use green strings to connect the 2 top corners at the front of body.
