They are specifically placed in this order, because as you go down the list you will notice that the crocheting techniques involved are slightly more complex, resulting in more detailing on the amigurumi.

    Crochet Superhero Dolls

Let us start with one of my earliest collection because the way they were made was my most basic doll body. All of them were essentially crocheted seamlessly with bobble stitches as they limbs which meant no sewing!

The hair making were super basic and mostly using just yarn to create different hairstyles. The only way I managed to make variations where changes in colour, whether in the hair, main body or the bobble stitch colours.

    big green man doll amigurumi

    Crochet Big Green Man

This is the most basic form, which is also very similar in pattern to my Ben in his swimsuit, as you will see later on, only when different colours involved. You can join in this free 5 day crochet-a-long on how to make a basic doll seamlessly in 30 minutes without sewing. You can join the challenge here.

    thunder god doll amigurumi

    Crochet Thunder God

On top of the basic body mentioned above, for this little guy, I had 2 variations for his hairstyles - one was yarn sewn on and the other was a wig cap. To find out more about the different variations you can make in amigurumi hairstyles, you can check this post on '24 creative ways on How to Crochet Doll Amigurumi Hair'.

I also included in a piece of headgear for him together with a cape as a clothing accessory, not to forget his accompanying hammer too.

    trickster god doll amigurumi

    Crochet Trickster God

There were separate clothing accessories on top of this body. For the headgear, I used basic crochet cords with wires inside them to make the horns. I also threw together an accompanying staff for him.

To learn about basic crochet cord, check out this post all about crocheting cylinders and tubes, 'How to Crochet a Tube in 10 different useful styles'.

Also, if you would like to try this particular pattern, if is available for free here.

    metal man amigurumi

    Crochet Metal Man

As for this version, the head portion has more colour changes and is not just beige. Also I changed up different colour changes in the bobble stitches for the limbs as well. I actually painted the eye attachment with white nail polish to replace the eyes.

This is another free pattern as well, available here:

    captain amigurumi

    Crochet Captain

This time the spherical head is half blue and half beige and I added in small little wings at the sides of the head. Also, there are multiple colour changes in the main amigurumi body and the bobble stitch arms. The last part was crocheting a small circle with many colours as his shield.

    spider web man amigurumi

    Crochet Spider Web Man

Using only red and blue yarn for this one and some facial and body embroidery as well. It was a matter of arranging the right colour changes in the body and also for the top 2 bobble stitches and the bottom 2. I made a small embroidery of a spider over the chest.

    android man doll amigurumi

    Crochet Android Man

The rough pattern is very similar to the metal man pattern above except with different colours with the colour changes. I also added on a small basic rectangular cape and tied the top part of it together.

    red witch doll amigurumi

    Crochet Red Witch

At this time, I have not really differentiated a male body from a female body. For this red witch, I added on some additional headgear for her costume. In addition to that, I used yarn to sew down the hair from top to the body, just beneath the yarn. The only way to differentiate the different genders is possibly with the hairstyle.

    quick man doll amigurumi

    Crochet Quick Man

Here I changed up the hairstyle a bit even though I was still using yarn to sew down as the hairstyle by sewing a pulled back hairstyle. Also there are some colour changes at the base of the amigurumi body, which was black in colour and different from the main blue body.

    spy woman doll amigurumi

    Crochet Spy Woman

The variation for this body was that I attempted a beige neckline for this female, so that it looks more like a woman. The clothes involved has some colour changes including making a different coloured belt. Then for the hair, I decided to do a centre hairline parting for her using the same sewed down method.

    archery man doll amigurumi

    Crochet Archery Man

On top of the usual clothes changes, I added in a mask for this little guy and an small embroidery on his head. His accessories were the cool part, I made a separate small mini bow and satchel and attached them to his main amigurumi body. He was my first sale in my Comic Con craft fair!

    Crochet Sci Fi Dolls

I made this set right about the same time as the one above with the same basic doll body but I added even more attachments than before like helmets and some jacket colour changes. Also there are small animal like figures here made with doll bodies.

    white princess amigurumi

    Crochet White Princess

Here is another example of the basic body with not many colour changes but to make her distinctive, I added to 2 hair buns on the side. Then to make the hairline, I sewed down yarn from the middle of the head outwards, leading into the buns.

    hunter man amigurumi

    Crochet Hunter Man

The base body this time has some colour changes that make the clothes look like a vest without additional attachments.

    jedi fighter amigurumi

    Crochet Jedi Fighter

Here I did not make many colour changes but I added some simple embroidery on body and also included a smal wire wrapped in blue yarn as a light saber. There was a colour change in a round to make a belt appearance.

    flight suit man amigurumi

    Crochet Flightsuit Man

The main suit has quite a few back and forth colour changes and there is additional detailing that is sewn down over the front of the body. The helmet head piece is made up of different parts that are sewn together.

    green monster amigurumi

    Crochet Little Green Monster

This is a combination of a basic human body with an animal head. The ears are attached to the side of the head. I made 2 versions of this , a smaller and a larger one. As for the larger one, I made a separate vest attachment to the body, one of my first attempts at extra clothing attachment.

    bounty hunter amigurumi

    Crochet Bounty Hunter

This bounty hunter does not have any specific facial features as I crocheted on the colour changes for the head as it appears on his helmet. The same goes for the colour changes in the body as well.

    crochet furry beary doll

    Crochet Furry Beary Doll

This is technically more of a bear than a doll but I decided to include it here because its basic body was lifted off a doll's body. I just added in some round ears and included a piece of headgear.

    crochet hooded monster doll

    Crochet Hooded Monster

The whole head is basically black, while the clothing is in brown. Here I used a combination of crocheting a hood as well as some surface crocheting to demarcate the bottom of the clothes.

    Crochet star trek dolls

This set was pretty simple and quick to create as the pattern for the bodies were all similar save for some colour changes. My favourite part of this set has to be the space ship I crocheted not the dolls but they were a great accompaniment and I managed to sell a few nursery mobiles with this theme.

    picard captain doll amigurumi

    Crochet Picard Captain

For this doll I made a bald headed appearance with a separate small rectangular wig cap. The clothes and bobble stitch colour changes were pretty uniform across this collection.

    riker commander doll amigurumi

    Crochet Riker Commander

In addition to the same body above, I did add on some simple facial embroidery and a wig cap attachment as well.

    data android doll amigurumi

    Crochet Data Android

This time the uniform colour was changed and the wig cap hairstyle was more of a bob appearance. The rest of doll body was pretty much the same.

    deanna doll amigurumi

    Crochet Deanna Empath

This was a little more fun and varied, at this point I have not started crocheting female curvature in the bodies so I just changed up the body or clothes colours. Then I added on a coily updo hairstyle which made the doll look like a woman!

    geordi la forge doll amigurumi

    Crochet Geordi La Forge

The same body head and body pattern as data above, except with the relevant colour changes and an additional eye gear attachment to the face.

    worf doll amigurumi

    Crochet Worf Klingon

I had a bit more fun with this little guy's facial detailing, forehead and hair as well. It was also my first attempt at making a flat protruding nose for him by surface crocheting a small triangle in the middle of his face!

    red hair girl crochet amigurumi

    Crochet Beverly Doctor

The hairstyle was the interesting part for this character with a curly red wig cap with a fringe attachment as well. The uniform was the same crochet pattern as the rest except it was changed to blue colour.

    Crochet prehistoric dolls

From the basic bodies with bobble stitches, here I started experimenting with even more hairstyles particularly wig caps, instead of just sewing down yarn on the heads. The bodies still roughly remained the same.

    crochet cave man doll

    Crochet Caveman

For this first piece in this set, I attempted to make a separate hand and then attach it on. I felt it did not turn out too well which is why for the rest of the set, I just stuck to keeping the bobble stitches. There was some clothes detailing involved that make using of surface crocheting for the trimmings. Also for him, I tried some crocheted eye patches with facial embroidery as well.

    crochet cave woman doll

    Crochet Cave Woman

For this cave woman, I made even more elaborate hairstyles with the wig cap this time having a curled up appearance. Apart from the bobble stitches around her neck as her necklace, I made similar dress trimmings for her.

    crochet cave boy doll

    Crochet Cave Boy

The facial detailing includes eyebrows, small external round nose attachment, a brown facial patch as his moustache and some facial embroidery and also added on a tongue! The bobble stitches stay beige while the clothes are brown in colour.

    crochet cave girl doll

    Crochet Cave Girl

For her wig cap, it includes a low updo and a little bowtie right at the top. Then I added on lips with red yarn and crocheted white eye patches to make her look more cartoony. Her clothing trimmings at the bottom are pretty similar to the others above, except they are in blue.

    crochet cave toddler doll

    Crochet Cave Toddler

For this toddler, the base amigurumi doll body is smaller. I added some cheeks on either side of the face and crocheted eye patches as well. The other attachment detailing include the wig cap with its accompanying headgear and a club at his side as well. The demarcation of the colours in the body are meant to show he is wearing shorts.

    crochet cave baby doll

    Crochet Cave Baby

The base body is the same as the toddler above with the colour changes being different. Her hairstyle is a wig cap with a bone incorporated inside, while I made her face similar to the toddler above with fat cheeks. The smaller the doll body, the more difficult it is to do amigurumi detailing!

    Crochet diverse elemental teenagers

This was the next step for me, when I tried to do surface crocheting to add more detailing to the doll bodies without having to crochet separate clothing attachments.

crochet red haired boy in jacket and shorts doll amigurumi

    Crochet Wheeler

His hairstyle has a centre parting and a hair bob appearance from the back. The are multiple colour changes in the body to give a jacket appearance and top of that, I surface crocheted around the colour junctions to give the lapel look.

blond girl with pony tail and vest doll amigurumi

    Crochet Linka

Now there is some variations to the main doll body because I created a bust for the female dolls! It might be quite subtle because that was what I intended. In addition, I added on a ponytail attachment to the hair wig. The colour changes in the body were also supposed to allude to a vest and shorts as well.

asian girl with blue jacket doll amigurumi

    Crochet Gi

For this little girl, the pattern is very similar to the previous one, although I feel I should have experimented more with her skin colour because she is supposed to be Asian. The surface crochet for the jacket and the colour changes for the shorts are similar to the above. Her wig cap is more of a short pixie appearance.

black haired boy with brown vest doll amigurumi

    Crochet Mati

Mati has different facial colours and there are also multiple colour changes for his clothes. His wig cap is quite similar to gi above and he has a small leaf attachment as well.

lady with grey curly hair and purple dress doll amigurumi

    Crochet Gaia

Gaia has the prettiest hair of this bunch because I was trying out making larger luscious curls in her wig cap. I also tried some surface crocheting to make the clothes with trimmings at the edges.

black haired boy with green vest doll amigurumi

    Crochet Kwame

For Kwame, I decided to try and experiment with a darker shade for his face and a squarish wig cap for his head. The shorts are similar to the other boys and girls above.

    captain planet doll amigurumi

    Crochet Captain Planet

Apart for his unusual blue skin colour, his hair is quite similar to Kwame's and the colour changes quite basic in the body, with less detailing compared to the others.

    Crochet wizarding dolls

On top of incorporating surface crocheting to help with the clothes in this set, I also tried extending the bobble stitches outwards on a chain for a few pieces in this set. I even experimented with using screws inside my amigurumi here.

    boy wizard doll amigurumi

    Crochet Boy Wizard

On top of the basic body, I added on a black wig cap with some sharp pointy fringe. Then the additional attachments included a foundation chain alternating coloured scarf and a craft wire bent into spectacles. For him, I tried crocheting extended bobble stitches that come out from the main amigurumi body.

    red haired wizard doll amigurumi

    Crochet Red Haired Wizard

The base body is similar to previous one, except with a different hairstyle with a centre parting. As for the rest of the uniform, it is the same as it was for the boy above.

    wizarding girl doll amigurumi

    Crochet Wizarding Girl

For this female doll, I incorporated the bust like I mentioned for the elemental dolls above so that it looks slightly different from the male dolls. Her hair has some mini curls inside paired with a sharp fringe as well. There are colour changes in the body meant to look like a sweater and an additional pleated skirt attachment, which is sewn down onto the main body waistline.

    house elf doll amigurumi

    Crochet House Elf

This house elf's base body is smaller than the rest and works up faster. It is quite similar to the little green man under the star wars collection above. Attach pointed oval ears to either side of the head and surface slip stitch onto the body as a clothing demarcation.

    old wizard doll amigurumi

    Crochet Old Wizard

The base body is slightly different without the legs, also with some shiny yarn detailing this time on the body. Apart from the hat and hairstyle wig cap attachment, I also first attempted some crocheted facial moustache and beard facial detailing.

    giant wizard doll amigurumi

    Crochet Giant Wizard

For this bigger guy, I upsized the amigurumi body to a slightly bigger size, with the head size still the same. Also with a curly wig cap and some crocheted facial hair as well. As for the jacket detailing, I crocheted 2 small little triangles and sewed them on as lapels for the jacket.

    black dressed witch doll amigurumi

    Crochet Black Dressed Witch

It can be pretty challenging to crochet with black yarn especially when you make a girl with almost all black yarn. It was pretty difficult to do detailing within a small coloured area for this girl so the best I could do was to make a coily hairstyle for her.

    turnable werewolf man doll amigurumi

    Crochet Turnable Werewolf Doll

Tried experimenting with turnable screws inside the head and the amigurumi body for this little guy. In order to achieve the interchangeable heads, I had to crochet half the head as human and the other half as a wolf head, with the same base amigurumi body.

    turban ghost wizard doll amigurumi

    Crochet Turban Ghost Wizard

Similar to the previous guy but with half white and half beige facial colours as the head and the clothing colour changes in the body. I added one half of screw to the head and the other half to the body, then ended off with a turban headgear right at the topl

    Crochet anime dolls

I thought to include this section because anime dolls are the most fun to brainstorm and crochet. For this collection, I included pointy hairstyles, bright colour and humanoid looking animals. This time I also started incorporated extended bobble stitches more regularly for a few of them.

If you are wondering how to crochet anime characters or you are looking for anime crochet ideas, here's a list of some of them which I have done and you can look for any of them which are free.

    anime pirate doll amigurumi

    Crochet Anime Pirate

This anime pirate has its base body being slightly different because of the extended bobbly limbs. The colour changes in the body are to show a jacket wrapped around his body and then I added on surface crocheting to line the jackets. More detailing included the wig cap with his straw hat attachment and then the little slipper detailing too!

    game man in cap amigurumi

    Crochet Game Man in Cap

Game Man has a prominent nose and a bulging fringe, topped off with a cap that is sewn down. His clothes are a simple set of overalls made using colour changes and a foundation chain on either sides of the head.

    yellow mouse amigurumi

    Crochet Mouse Anime

So this is technically more of an animal anime amigurumi, but I included it here because the body is mostly taken from a basic doll amigurumi. The additional parts include the long ears and the lightning tail. Crocheting animal amigurumi with his posture and limbs is a whole different story for another time.

    mario pikachu amigurumi

    Crochet Mario Pikachu

Here I just combined the face of the mouse above and the body of game man at the bottom. So the crochet patterns are combined, it was done just for fun.

    boy robot amigurumi

    Crochet Boy Robot

For this boy robot, it was my first try at incorporating a sharp pointy hairstyle. Then I added on crocheted eye patches that are paired with glass eyes and I crocheted a bobble stitch as a round nose. The rest of the body is the same base body as the pirate guy previously.

    blue robot cat amigurumi

    Crochet Blue Robot Cat

This is a earless blue robot cat that is pretty popular so I decided to make a mini version of him. He has a quite a bit of layering involved from his eye patches to his facial detailing and also his semi circular waist pouch on his body. This time the arms and legs are just bobble stitches.

    anime cat amigurumi

    Crochet Anime Cat

If you see closely, this anime cat was crocheted with a oval head, also another animal amigurumi that has a kind of humanoid body. I incorporated extended bobble stitches as the arms but bigger bobble stitches for the legs. Also the conical ears on both sides of the head are made seamlessly without any sewing attachments.

    anime fighter doll amigurumi

    Crochet Anime Fighter

This guy was fun to do and slightly more complicated to design. For one thing, his hair had some many pointy parts I have quite a bit of difficulty figuring out where to put them and whether it fits in the rounds - there was no attachment of cones involved, it was done seamlessly. Then his head also has a sharp pointy chin. For his clothes there was some surface slip stitch crocheting.

    anime school girl doll amigurumi

    Crochet Anime School Girl

Another great piece to design, the detailing was fun - including the straight hair and the updo, the shoulder pads and the spiked pleated skirt attachment. There are so many moving parts to this and quite a bit of sewing to do, just to make the individual detailed components.

    anime goth girl doll amigurumi

    Crochet Anime Goth Girl

I first made this because of a commission request (first and only actually because I stopped after that). It was fun to make because of the anime angle, because I had to approximate the hairstyle with the big headgear and costume clothes. Also this body is a lot more detailed than the base bodies above, including the bust and separate arms and legs.

    Crochet princess dolls

With this princess collection, I went a step further and made different types of base amigurumi bodies, hairstyles and dresses. So this is definitely a step up from the previous collections. I had made all of them once and decided to remake them again with more detailing the second round.

    ball gown doll princess amigurumi

    Crochet Ball Gown Princess

For this princess design, the special parts included using tall stitches to create her ball gown appearance and also an elaborate bun updo hairstyle with some dangling straight hair at the side.

    winter princess doll amigurumi

    Crochet Winter Princess

The distinctive parts of this princess is the hair fringe in the wig cap and a narrower dress appearance with some silver detailing.

This pattern is free and available right here.

    folkwear doll princess amigurumi

    Crochet Folkwear Princess

This time for this folkwear princess I intentionally made her dress wider more like a ball gown and added shiny yarn for trimmings. Then her hairstyle included a centre parting with 2 pigtails.

    arabian doll princess amigurumi

    Crochet Arabian Princess

I made this princess slightly differently even with the main body as the legs extended downwards. The pants are wrapped around the legs on either side. Her hairstyle also involves some crochet chains.

    red haired mermaid crochet amigurumi

    Crochet Mermaid Princess

The distinctive points for this princess include the large curls in the wig cap with a slightly protruding fringe. Also her bra top is a single piece being attached onto the bust. And as the name suggests, instead of legs, she has a singular mermaid tail.

    tribal doll princess amigurumi

    Crochet Tribal Princess

For this tribal princess, I used multiple chain loops for the hairstyle and attached it onto the head. The top of her clothes included some surface crocheting to get a toga appearance and I extended it down into a V-shaped trimming at the bottom.

    archery doll princess amigurumi

    Crochet Archery Princess

Her distinctive hair is made very coily at the bases, just like the curvy rippling at the bottom of her skirt. To top off her appearance, I attached a bow and a satchel, similar to the archery hero above.

    ocean doll princess amigurumi

    Crochet Ocean Princess

For this ocean princess, I crocheted a pulled back fringe hairstyle together with some small curls. As for her dress, I also added some loop and hook little yarn strand endings as a dress trimming.

    long haired doll princess amigurumi

    Crochet Long Haired Princess

This was a really fun princess to make and I made more details for her. From her long chain loop hairstyle with the floral pieces in it, to the bobble stitch shoulder pads and the split between her skirt and her legs when crocheting downwards in a round.

    frog princess doll princess amigurumi

    Crochet Frog Princess

Incorporating tunisan crochet in my amigurumi - this was my first and only attempt so far in making her dress. I made a few layers including a regular single crochet one, a spade stitch one and finally a tunisan layer as well. Then I finished off her bun hairstyle with some hair accessories as well.

    cinder doll princess amigurumi

    Crochet Cinder Princess

I loved making this high updo, it was a bunch of cluster stitches grouped together, with a poufy fringe as well. I added some rhinestones for detailing too. As for the arms, it is extended outwards from the body just below the bobble stitch shoulder pads.

    warrior doll princess amigurumi

    Crochet Warrior Princess

This is one of the simpler patterns of this set, with an easy continuous straight hairstyle parted right down the middle, and the colour changes are quite simple for the clothes.

    sleeping doll princess amigurumi

    Crochet Sleeping Princess

Another example of a different hairstyle - this one has a coily trailing hair and coily fringe as well, accompanied by a golden crown. Her rippling skirt at the bottom is similar to that for the cinder princess above, with slight variations in the ripples.

    fair doll princess amigurumi

    Crochet Fair White Princess

Similar to the long haired princess above, I included alternating coloured bobble stitches as her shoulder pads and a mild rippling skirt. This time her hairstyle is more of a low updo topped off with a bowtie.

    Crochet fantasy dolls

The last of my themed collections, which has not just more detailed amigurumi bodies and limbs, but some facial detailing as well to make each character even distinctive. The colours are slightly more subdued compared to say the anime series.

    crochet halfling doll

    Crochet Halfling

Let us start with the most basic body first as it is the easiest, much like the very first few collections I made above. There are some basic colour changes in the body to look like a coat. Also the wig cap is made up of multiple bobble stitches to hopefully have the appearance of curly hair.

This pattern is available for free over here.

    crochet elf doll

    Crochet Elf

This elf has much more detailing than the first version I created - from the nose to his jawline, the curly layered hairstyle to the clothing colour changes and the surface crocheted on skirts. I was also trying to keep the male physique in the body.

    crochet dwarf doll

    Crochet Dwarf

Crocheting this dwarf body is much like for the halfling body above, but the additional parts that make it look different include the facial hair and his wig cap, together with the accompanying helmet. And I used shiny yarn throughout inside both his clothes and his helmet as well.

    crochet wizard doll

    Crochet Wizard

I decided to make his nose look a little more hooked compared to the rest and paired iwth with a moustache and a pointy triangular beard. Then I topped it up with a pointy raggard grey hat. As for his clothes, it is quite similar to the elf's one with surface crocheted wrap-around skirts.

    crochet steward doll

    Crochet Steward

The steward has a small open mouth, a short straight hair wig cap and pretty basic colour changes in his clothes, together with some shiny yarn detailing.

    crochet ranger doll

    Crochet Ranger

This ranger is the most complex one of this set, because I included so many things! He has colour changes in his body, arms and legs, wrapped by a coat and then a hood on top of it. Inside, his hair wig cap has multiple chains, his nose nice and sharp and his jawline strong and squarish. It took me a while to put him together and I am thinking of working an even better version of him.

    Crochet baby dolls

My latest doll series that are completely and randomly designed without working off any existing themed characters. New positions and new suits and hopefully new ideas for my doll library in the future too!

    boy in swimsuit doll amigurumi

    Crochet Boy in Swimsuit

The most basic boy body that can be crocheted continuously without any sewing and is actually the base body for most of the top few patterns on this page is here. There are some basic colour changes inside as well so I would say it is for beginners. I have included a free email crochet-a-long so that it is super easy to follow, if you want to sign up.

baby girl doll amigurumi in bikini suit

    Crochet Bikini Baby

For this bikini baby, there is surface crocheting involved in making the arms and legs so that there is minimal sewing - the final appearance is of her sitting down. The bikini itself is a separate piece with alternating row colour changes. In addition to the basic wig cap, I added 2 poufs as her ponytails.

ice cream baby boy doll amigurumi

    Crochet Ice Cream Baby

This is part of the same set as the bikini baby but is the accompanying boy selling her the ice cream in the truck. He has a similar sitting position appearance and the differences include his clothes and the accompanying vest. Also he has a poufy fringe hairstyle with a little tiny ice cream hat.

baby girl in tiger suit doll amigurumi

    Crochet Baby in Tiger Suit

This and the next 3 dolls are all part of my teepee animal set collection. Tiger lily or the girl in a tiger suit was the first one with the same basic body that is followed for the next 3 little babies. The differences are in the animal suit on the outside, working with a hood and then a jumpsuit that is crocheted on around the body.

baby girl in bunny suit doll amigurumi

    Crochet Baby in Bunny Suit

The jumpsuit for the bunny is done continuously meaning the long ears are made together with the hood and it then moves onto the bodysuit. Her hairstyle includes a wig cap with pigtails on either side. As for the rabbit face detailing on the hood, those are separately attached on.

baby boy in dinosaur suit doll amigurumi

    Crochet Baby in Dinosaur Suit

Crocheting a dinosaur suit includes the tail and the spines have been surface crocheted onto the back. The figure inside the suit is the same body pattern with a boy's short hairstyle in yellow instead.
